Website auditing and evaluation services

TechWriter offers an independent, professional web auditing and evaluation service for businesses and organisations that have an existing website and want to improve its performance, appearance and/or user-friendliness and navigation schema. Or they may be preparing to launch a new website and want an independent opinion on its design and usability before going public.

TechWriter owner, David Armstrong, brings to the task many years experience as a technology writer and editor in evaluating and critiquing websites, highlighting aspects which need improvement and do not meet modern standards for basic visitor usability. He uses his journalistic experience to act as an independent, no-strings-attached observer looking for problems (and often solutions) which you have become accustomed to through familiarity. A typical basic audit for a website up to about 20 pages costs about $150 to $300, which includes a detailed report of the strengths and weaknesses of the site and recommendations, if required, for bottom-line and minor improvements. Generally the report can be provided within five working days.

If your site has cost several thousand dollars to develop, this is a small price to pay for reassurance that nothing has been overlooked through perhaps blinkered vision.

The fee is charged on an hourly basis (including time to prepare the report), so larger and more complex sites may cost somewhat more than $300 while smaller ones may cost a little less. Contact us (with your site's URL) for a free estimate of the cost of providing an audit.

Our clients say:

Here are three recent responses from clients. Two of these were from quite large, prominent New Zealand companies.

"Thanks for the audit. We are extremely happy with the way you have done this - picked up all our problems and more and explained why we have some of them."

"Have had a quick read through your findings, and my first impression is that you have done an excellent job. There are some things that I thought and you have confirmed, but other points that we did not even think of. This website was designed for us about 1.5 years ago. We have now moved web development in-house, and I am heading the design and development team. We are working on new layout and design for the public site, and your ideas and comments will help greatly."

"I have received and read the report - thank you very much, it is very helpful. I will forward it to the rest of the project team and let you know if they have any questions. I would like to thank you for the excellent service you have provided. It is great for us to receive feedback from someone external to our company so quickly."
